Field Identification

Identification of equipment in the field is the first step in successful inspection and maintenance.  Being able to trace and identify assets in the field is important to maintain a proper and accurate inspection history and audit trail.  Field ID uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) as its main source for field identification.

Easy Identification Using RFID

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is used as the core means of identification in Field ID.  Unlike most traditional means of identification, RFID doesn’t require a line of sight.  Depending on the application, assets in the field can be identified from a couple of inches to hundreds of feet away.  With RFID, Field ID can automatically identify assets in the field and store information such as the last inspection date, GPS location and product information.  Traditional identification includes manually reading serial numbers or using bar codes.  Field ID uses RFID to allow for faster and more accurate identification, completely eliminating manual identification.

Identification needs to be rugged and durable.  The biggest problem with traditional means of identification is that they get damaged in the field.  Problems include serial numbers getting rubbed off or bar codes being ripped apart.  When this happens, a product can no longer be identified and in many cases becomes legally unusable.  RFID is small, durable and rugged and can withstand the elements and harsh environments.  Since there are no visual markings to be read, traditional problems facing identification no longer apply.

Open System

Field ID has an open architecture, which means it can use multiple different ways to identify objects in the field.  Whether you use RFID, barcodes or serial numbers, Field ID will still work to meet your needs.  We follow industry accepted standards to ensure everything that we do can be carried out on standard hardware.  Field ID never locks you into using specific proprietary hardware.  We give our customers full flexibility in your Field ID deployment.
